About Us

Bev Allen, CEO and Founder

I would like to tell you a little about myself and how Lily&Me, Inc. and our first product, ThePetCheckup, came about.

I have been involved in animal welfare on a volunteer basis for many years — from walking dogs and brushing cats to coordinating media events, implementing spay/neuter promotions, and working on national campaigns. Helping animals to live happier and healthier lives brings me great joy. Lily&Me, Inc represents my desire to introduce high quality products designed to help people care for their animal companions.

But it was an experience with my own cat Oliver that provided the seed for ThePetCheckup:

A few years ago, when I took Oliver for his annual checkup, my veterinarian found that he had a kidney infection. I was surprised because Ollie had shown no symptoms in either his behavior or appearance.

Only the lucky timing of Ollie’s annual checkup allowed his infection to be caught at an early stage. He was treated and recovered completely.

But Ollie’s close call concerned me and I began researching ways to test my animals at home on a regular basis. I knew I had found an effective early detection system when I began using urinalysis test strips.

I used them on my animals for a year — my friends used them on their pets too — and they worked. The strips detected illnesses that required veterinary care. My success inspired me to develop the ThePetCheckup home testing kit. Dr. Robert Wiegert, a veterinarian with over 25 years experience, serves as the technical advisor for ThePetCheckup. I am proud to introduce this product to everyone who wants to take the best care they can of their dogs and cats.

Robert Wiegert, DVM, Veterinary Technical Advisor to ThePetCheckup

Dr. Wiegert has been caring for animals at the Veterinary Clinic, P.C. since 1978.

“Early detection is the most powerful tool a veterinarian has. When conditions are detected early enough, many of them are correctible, often by just a change in the animal’s diet. Unfortunately, by the time we see the animal, the condition is usually advanced and more difficult to treat.”

Allen Schoen, MS, DVM, Director of Veterinary Services

He is the author of Love, Miracles, and Animal Healing; Kindred Spirits-how the remarkable bond between humans and animals can change the way we live; co-editor of Complementary & Alternative Veterinary Medicine, and editor of Veterinary Acupuncture, Ancient Art to Modern Medicine.
